Accessing Blackboard

Due to mobile app limitations, do not use the Blackboard App or your mobile browser to submit an assignment, quiz, or test without instructor approval. The app and a mobile browser can be used to attend online classes, view course content, and communicate with your instructor and other students. Update your mobile operating system and the Bb app often to avoid technical issues.

Logging Into Blackboard

Login to Blackboard to access all your online courses as well as content for hybrid and face-to-face courses as needed.

Reading Announcements

Check your Blackboard announcements for each course often.

Sending Messages

Use Blackboard course messages to communicate with your instructors and other students.

Setting Notifications

Set your Blackboard notifications to be alerted to important course information and assignments. 

Checking Activity Stream

Check your Blackboard activity stream often to stay informed about important and upcoming assignments. 

Using Calendar

Use the calendar tool in Blackboard to view all course meeting times and due dates.

Participating in Discussions

Participate in course discussions as assigned and to increase student success. 

Adding Journal Entries

Write journal entries for your instructor's assignments and your own learning reflection. 

Submitting Assignments

All online course assignments must be submitted in Blackboard.

Respondus LockDown Browser is used for Blackboard online tests to ensure academic integrity. Students cannot visit other websites, access other applications, copy and paste, print, or complete many other functions while using the browser during online tests. 

If a student is having trouble with online tests in Blackboard, they should send a course message to their instructor. They can also contact GTC Technical Support or the Testing Center to schedule in-person test proctoring.

Checking Grades

Check your grades often to evaluate and improve your course success.
