WHY USE REFERENCE SOURCES?

Reference sources provide basic facts and, therefore, should be consulted at the start of any research. Dictionaries, thesauri, encyclopediae, handbooks, almanacs and atlases are all types of reference materials. Some of these resources will cover a wide range of topics, while others will include information for a specific discipline.
