Section 108 of Title 17 (U.S. Copyright Law) provides guidance for libraries and archives as they provide access to copyrighted materials. Under certain circumstances, Section 108 of the U.S. Copyright Law allows libraries and archives to reproduce copyrighted materials without the permission of the copyright holder. The American Library Association's Office of Information Technology Policy provides the Section 108 Tool to help inform visitors about libraries and compliance with Section 108 of U.S. Copyright Laws.
