Health Sciences: Journals

ELECTRONIC JOURNALS

This is a sample of just a few of the health sciences journals (not including nursing) that are available via the GTC Library's online databases. The links will take you to an entry for that journal title that will allow you to access the full-text issues or search within the journal.

WHY USE JOURNALS?

Journal articles are great for your research because they:

  • are usually more current than books.
  • often report scientific breakthroughs.
  • can focus on topics that may be too specific for books.
  • are respected by experts (like your instructors!).

Instructors especially like scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. These journals are serious publications that are written to advance research or creativity in an academic or professional field. They are often published by organizations that value research and scholarly work (ex. American Medical Association), and articles are written by experts. Because these are not written for entertainment or for the general public, you will not typically find them for sale in bookstores or supermarkets.
